Privacy Policy

disric is a community-powered rent transparency platform for London renters. We are not a letting agency or a commercial property platform.

Rent pins — when you submit a rent pin, we store: the location (latitude/longitude), rent amount, property details (beds, type, furnishing), area/borough, and an optional note. We also store a one-way hash of your IP address to prevent abuse. We do not store your raw IP address.

Listings — when you post a room listing, we store: your name, email address, listing details (area, rent, photos, description), and an IP hash. Your email is never shown publicly — it is only used to forward enquiries from interested renters directly to you.

Contact messages — when someone contacts a lister, we pass their name, email, and message through our system to deliver the email. We do not store the message content after sending.

Photos — images you upload are stored securely in cloud storage and are publicly accessible via a random URL if you include them in a listing.

• To display anonymous rent data on the map
• To show your room listing to people looking for a room
• To forward enquiries from interested renters to your email
• To enforce fair-use limits (via IP hashing) and prevent spam

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties except as required to operate the service (email delivery via Brevo, database hosting via Supabase).

• Listings — automatically expire and are removed after 30 days
• Rent pins — stored indefinitely to build the dataset, but contain no personal information
• Your email — deleted when your listing expires, or immediately on request
• IP hashes — retained for abuse prevention, not linked to any personal profile

If you are based in the UK or EU, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Deletion — request that your listing, email, or any identifiable data is deleted
• Correction — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Objection — object to how we process your data

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@disric. We will respond within 30 days.

To delete your listing or remove your email from our system, email privacy@disric with the subject line Delete my data. Include the email address you used when posting your listing. We will confirm deletion within 5 working days.

Rent pins do not contain any personal information and cannot be attributed to you — they do not need to be deleted.

We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels. We may use basic analytics (page view counts) to understand how the platform is used. No personal data is involved in this.

Your email is stored in an encrypted database and is never returned to the browser or shown to other users. IP addresses are hashed before storage and cannot be reversed. Photos are stored behind randomised URLs.

We may update this policy as the platform evolves. Significant changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date.
